Dangar Falls... after 400 mm of rain fell in 48 hours.

After 48 hours of torrential rain - we are now in the midst of an expanding sea of muddy, churning water. We have had over 380 mm of rain in the last few days (with extremely heavy falls this morning). At the moment the Bellingen river is at close to 8 metres (which is the "1 in 100 year" flood level). I am at Repton, and went for a drive a few minutes ago to have a look...

This is the view from Repton looking down at the river.

The road between Waterfall Way and Repton is blocked by floodwaters.

This is the view across the Bellinger Valley from Repton - this is normally all paddocks.

This is the view up the road to the caravan park - which is totally underwater.

Some of the caravans which have been evacuated from the caravan park. Unfortunately they couldn't get all of the vans out - there are still some with just the roofs poking out of the water.

This farmer was trying to save his cows.

Here are the cows trying to swim to safety after the farmer opened the gate.

And they really were in trouble!

The road at Mylestrom just before it was completely covered.

This somewhat blurry photo (taken in pouring rain) is of the swimming pool and boardwalk at Myelstom. The boardwalk usually sits a few metres above the water - just the posts are visible now.

The park near the bowling club.
With roads cut and bridges out - it's no school for us!
