Building Castles and Hunting for Fairies

Today Elijah came to spend a special day with Namar. I picked him up from Bellingen at 7.30 this morning and we came back home for some fruit and a drink. Then Eli did some painting.... a Picasso in the making I am sure! After this we packed up and headed down to the beach. Eli had a lovely time building castles (well he actually seemed to enjoy destroying them more than building them), running up and down the dunes and jumping the little waves as they came to shore.
After we had had enough of the sun, we wandered off into the forest to go searching for fairies. We found a beautiful fairy tree, saw fairyhorses (butterflies) and some bright purple berries (definitely fairy food).
The forest was beautiful and full of the sounds of birds in the trees, lizards on the ground and Elijah calling the fairies.
We found a big dragon - we didn't go too close because he looked scary!
Finally, in the depths of the forest, I found the most beautiful fairy!
After this excitement we went back to the car and drove down to the Mystrom to give the playground a workout. Elijah loved the slide and play-house and we had great fun on the swing together (we didn't go too hight because I got a bit scared).
After this, we wandered down to the tidal pool and Elijah enjoyed a paddle in the water.
We finally made our way home for some lunch and some quiet time. We read "Magic Beach" together and Eli spent a good half hour sitting quietly looking at the pictures.
Before we knew it, it was time for Elijah to go back home. I can't wait for our next exciting day together!

Sunday with Lachlan

Today was the last day of Lachlan's school holidays - so we went out and had some fun! First up we joined Kelley, Lorance, Cassia, Reilley and Valentina for some kegel bowling. Lachlan and I didn't exactly cover ourselves with glory at this - so after we left the McGlashan family, we went on to the 10 pin bowling alley to see if we could do any better at this.
Lachlan was pretty impressive ... his score card had a heap of strikes and spares. My bowling was slightly less wonderful (sore arm, broken ribs.... any excuse will do).
After bowling, we had a couple of games of pool.... neither of us expects an invitation to play in a professional tournament soon!

On the way home we stopped to check out the impressive storm front rolling off the mountain - the weather is amazing here sometimes.
Then Lachlan had his very first drive. He got his L Plates back in June, but hasn't had a chance to get behind the wheel until today. We went to some of the little back roads at Raleigh and Lachlan did a pretty darned good job... no kangaroo hopping and only stalled a couple of times.
Tonight Lachlan lovingly tended to his filthy, disgusting, smelly, falling apart converse shoes. I would like the world to know that I bought him some beautiful, new shoes - but he refuses to wear them.... preferring instead to push his feet into the stinking pieces of cloth which were once converse shoes. He has mended the 'shoes' so many times that I think they are now almost entirely made up of the dental floss he uses to sew them up!

Irish Farming Fef

Fef is over in Ireland learning how to be a farmer. She has been milking cows (and discovering she is not that good at dodging the poo). I think the cow milking thing must be in her genes... she is making her papa proud!
Fef has also been driving the tractor (who let her loose on a tractor? They obviously haven't got any idea of her driving skills.)
Fef is staying with a lovely Irish family and having a wonderful time.

Eli's Day at the Beach

Sheree and Eli came to visit last Thursday. It was a beautiful day, so we headed on down to the beach. We had lots of fun building sand castles (which Eli enjoyed destroying) and chasing Eli up the dunes. We also had fun jumping the waves and watching the dolphins. The beach is a great place to take Eli - lots of space for him to run and jumping waves is a very exciting thing to do when you are 2 years old!

Sheree's birthday

Hello and welcome to my new blog - my way of keeping family and friends up to date with what is happening. My offspring tend to be doing a range of things far and wide and I hope to use this blog to keep you up to date with what is happening.

So to start with - yesterday was Sheree's 28th birthday. She went to Mim and Papas to celebrate her new wrinkles and hung out with her little family. Today she came out with Lachlan and I. We went to Coffs and, after doing a few little jobs (me sending an assignment in to uni, buying a lampshade for my new lamp and other boring stuff), we hit the shops. We called into Dymmocks where Lachlan bought me a copy of Brysingr (the new Eragon book)... I actually bought it a week ago - but Lachlan borrowed it and took it swimming in the river. I also bought Sheree a Japanese cookbook to give her ideas for her new job cheffing in a Japanese Restaraunt. Then we went clothes shopping and I bought Sheree a new top for her birthday. After this we went and had lunch at the Jetty - very yummy and nice for the three of us to hang out for a while. The waitress kindly took some photos. (If you look closely you will see Lachlan's attempt at Angelina Jolie lips - though I am not sure that she used an alcohol fueled face dive to the ground to achieve HER look).

After lunch we went bowling (not easy for me with 2 broken ribs - but thanks to the modernmiracle of morphene - I managed to not only bowl... but beat the pants off the younguns!) We had a terrific day out and Sheree is now another year more ancient!
